Set your computer to "hibernate" after 30 minutes of inactivity. Shut down at the end of each day.

Reduce cooling costs by drawing shades or blinds on sun-exposed windows or glass doors.

Security Lighting


Security lights are available to customers for a monthly charge.  The cost of all material, installation, replacement of lamps and electricity used is included in this monthly cost. 

Security lights are controlled by photoelectric cells and automatically come on at dusk and turn off in the morning.  We offer a variety of security lights but our basic light is the 100 Watt High Pressure Sodium which costs $9.35, plus tax, a month.

Effective February 1, 2009, Surry-Yadkin EMC now requires our members to pay a six-month, non-refunable advance payment on all NEW security light installations.  Along with the advance payment, a one-time $25.00 Connection Fee is also charged to install a security light. 

If a member requests a security light be relocated to an exsisting pole, a $50.00 Security Light Relocation Fee will be charged.  If relocation required an additional pole or poles, the Security Light Relocation Fee will be $100.00 per pole.
