Rate 1 - Single Phase General Service

0-600 KWH:  10.120 cents per KWH
601-1500 KWH:  10.120 cents per KWH
over 1500 KWH:  9.35 cents per KWH


Rate 2 - Residential Conservation Service

Basic Facility Charge = $15.00
0-600 KWH:  10.120 cents per KWH
601-1500 KWH:  9.99 cents per KWH
over 1500 KWH:  9.07 cents per KWH

Surry-Yadkin EMC offers a conservation rate to its members, both old and new.  It is designed as an incentive to get our members to insulate their homes up to certain standards.  You may be eligible for the conservation rate if you are building a new home or updating your older home by installing insulation or adding to your present insulation.

To meet the conservation rate requirements, you must have insulation equivalent to:

Ceilings: R-30
Walls: R-12
Floor: R-19
Storm windows or insulated doors
Storm windows or double pane windows
State size of water heater
State size and type of heating system
Adequate ventilation per square foot of home

Rate 7 - SSI Supplemental Security Service

Basic Facility Charge = $15.00
0-600 KWH:  9.87 cents per KWH
601-1500 KWH:  10.12 cents per KWH
over 1500 KWH:  9.35 cents per KWH

Surry-Yadkin EMC offers a special SSI rate to its residential members who meet ALL of the following requirements:

  1. Receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) assistance from the Social Security Administration (a gold colored check).

  2. Are blind, or disabled, or 65 years of age or older.

  3. Are a member of Surry-Yadkin EMC receiving residential electric service in your name.

  4. Are head of household and/or are the principal wage earner.

If you meet ALL of these qualifications, you may apply for the special rate by completing an application and returning it to our office in Dobson.

The application, available by mail or pickup at our office, must be filled out by the Social Security Administration.  After your application is processed, you will be notified by letter if you DO NOT qualify for the special rate.  Qualified members will have the special rate indicated on bills as *Rate 7.
