Youth Tour

Each year, Surry-Yadkin EMC sponsors one rising high school senior to attend the NC Electric Cooperative Youth Tour to Washington, D.C.

More than a thousand rising seniors from all across the country meet one week a year in Washington, D.C. to tour our nation's Capital and historical landmarks, meet with our legislators and learn how cooperatives operate.  The students chosen from North Carolina will meet in Raleigh for a special dinner and travel by bus to Washington, D.C. where they will meet up with students from all across America.  This tour typically takes place in June of each year.

Not only is this tour exciting and educational but it is also a great opportunity for a student to earn scholarship money.  The winning student from each North Carolina cooperative will be given the chance to participate in two scholarhip opportunities (The Gwyn B. Price Youth Tour Scholarship $2500 & Katie Bunch Memorial Youth Tour Scholarship $2000).

For more information, visit www.youthtour.coop

If you are interested in attending this Youth Tour, please contact our Member Services Department at 336-356-8241.  Applications, available in the office or by mail, are being accepted now through  March 31, 2010.
