Community Programs
Surry-Yadkin EMC is deeply committed to serving our rural communities by providing safe, affordable, reliable energy to our members; however, we would not be able to achieve this goal without our community programs and academic scholarships. These value-added benefits are just a few of the advantages that come along with co-op membership.
SYEMC believes education must play a vital role in the effort to further develop our local economy. As such, the co-op invests in several educational opportunities throughout the year. The Youth Tour Scholarship and Touchstone Energy Scholarships for prospective college students are very popular amongst co-op members. In addition to offering academic scholarships, Surry-Yadkin EMC also offers NC Bright Ideas Education grants for local teachers, and Touchstone Energy Sports Camp Scholarships for middle school students.
Operation Round Up is a voluntary organization that assists victims of house fires, and those suffering from financial hardship due to a catastrophic illness. The organization is funded 100% by member contributions, and has donated over $1 million to families and organizations in our communities since its inception.
