LaQuanda Martin, manager of member services, is a native of Elkin and a member of the 2010 graduating class of Elkin High School. Once she finished high school, she continued her education at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in psychology. She also received her Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
In addition to her extensive education, Martin also contributes a wealth of knowledge and skills as an SYEMC employee. Since beginning her career with the company in August 2015, she has worked as a member services representative and as a cashier, she has assisted with service orders and collections, billing, human resources, and she has served as the contact center supervisor prior to being named manager of member services.
According to Martin, her co-workers are amongst her favorite things when asked what she loves the most about her job. “When you work with a great team, work doesn’t seem so much like work. I have always felt like I was put here to help others and throughout my walk of life that has looked different. Where I am now, in the position I hold, my favorite thing is helping people reach their definition of success and reach their goals,” said Martin. As the youngest of seven siblings, it is hard not to believe that Martin was being prepared to build successful teams early on.
Martin is also a successful social media influencer who highlights local and out of town cuisine. She also enjoys painting, and as no surprise to anyone who is fortunate to know her, she enjoys shopping as well – always sporting the latest fashion trends.
